A Chair's Visual Diary

Have interaction data alter a chair design.

Numerical data from how users interact a kitchen stool in a living space is utilised to parametrically alter a chair’s CAD model. The models are then 3D printed, as a study into how can data technology can be incorporated into the furniture design process.

This project serves as a reflection from my work placement of creating miniature chairs. How can designing or making furniture objects be further innovated through advances in digital technology?

Project was inspired by work placement at tna design studios, where I helped develop the 1:16 Thonet chair paper diorama.

Chair models from day 1 across an 8-day trial run.
